Testimonial

"...I strongly endorse both Eric Stiegman and the kettlebell program for any training purpose and especially golf. I would not write this if I did not firmly believe in it. Eric is very skilled in teaching pupils the safe and effective use of kettlebells. There is no better strength and flexibility training program that I am aware of." ~ Philip Frazier

Golf Performance

Kettlebell training, like golf, is an art form. It is very skill based. Just as one approaches golf as a practice, so should one with kettlebell training. The main reason for this is that technique means everything in kettlebell training just like golf. What is the point in doing something if you are going to do it wrong?

Fundamentals take precedence over mindless workouts or routines. When one recognizes this principle and practices diligently he or she will be rewarded with supreme physical conditioning and an unbelievably powerful golf swing. You see kettlebell training has the unique ability to bring out the best in all of us. It can tap into the power that lies within all of us. It does the same with its carryover to golf. Suddenly, things start to click: the legs are stronger, the backswing or "turn" becomes more flexible, the hips move faster, and thus the club moves faster. This means blistering drives and reaching new distance territories normally unexplored.

Here are just some of the reasons why kettlebell training is the common sense choice for longer drives and a better golfing body:

Kettlebells develop an internal focus similar to golf.

Just as "swing thoughts" are common in the pre-shot routine leading up to a golf shot, kettlebell training is very much the same. Kettlebell training requires constant brain activity where one goes through a mental checklist or "mantra" while performing drills. Once these kettlebell "swing thoughts" become habit, then they start to happen very naturally and instinctively.

Kettlebells develop "rooting" and a powerful stance.

All power is generated from the ground. Period! I don't care how many people talk about strong arms and forearm strength for big drives, they are kidding themselves. Without a strong connection, balance, and leveraging of the ground max power is impossible. Don't believe me... try standing on one of those fancy balance devices popular today and see how far you can hit the ball. Guaranteed you will hit it farther with your feet rooted flat to the ground! Remember a tree's branches are only as strong as its roots!

Kettlebell training enhances one's "relaxed-tension".

This is, in my opinion, one of the best reasons to kettlebell train for golf. There are two sides of the performance coin: relaxation and tension. The blending of these two skills creates smooth, coordinated movement. Kettlebell training requires a great deal of "relaxed-tension". For example, the legs and hips must stay tight will the arms stay relaxed. Many kettlebell exercises require this rhythm of tension-relaxation-tension-relaxation... and so on. The golf swing is the ultimate athletic move that requires this coordination of relaxation and tension. The pro's have it down pat and this is why their swings are so fluid and effortless looking. Tension gives the swing its strength and relaxation gives it speed. The more one blends these two the more lethal the swing! Kettlebells deliver this!

Kettlebell training helps golfers move from the hips first!

All good athletes move from their hips first. This is the key to athletic performance no matter what the sport. This is crucial for the golf swing as well. A distinct difference between pro's and the average golfer's swing is that the pro's initiate the downswing by clearing the hips first and fast. Most amateurs start the downswing with the arms and upper body, a big mistake. This leads to lost power and swing faults. Kettlebell training is based on this principle of hips first. This leads to safe and powerful movement.

Kettlebell training develops body linkage.

The human body is a chain link system. To have the ultimate expression of power one must be able to send strength through each chain link without any "leakages" of power. Kettlebell training demands body linkage for correct execution of all drills. This is one of the main reasons why kettlebell training separates itself from bodybuilding style "isolation" workouts. Smoking one muscle does not teach body linkage, kettlebell training does. You make the choice!

These are just some of the reasons that the kettlebell is the "People's Choice" for golf fitness! If you are in the pursuit of greater power off the tee, a better-healthier body, and more energy then STOP right here! The kettlebell is your answer! It is the truth, the way, and the light. If you don't believe me, I will make you a believer! Finally justice to golf fitness. Just "say no" to all other fluffy workouts and accept the kettlebell-It is literally all you need! Master your body and your swing with the Russian kettlebell!
